Privacy policy

Beta version. The final text will be published before the full public launch.

What data we collect

• Account: email and password (the password is stored encrypted by our provider, Supabase). Your email is never public. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your email address from them.
• Profile: name or nickname, home town and a short bio, visible to everyone.
• Content: the tips you publish (visible to everyone after moderation), and the profile photos, comments and likes you post (visible to everyone).
• Activity: the tips you mark as helpful and the travellers you follow.

Where it is stored

Data is stored on Supabase servers in the European Union (Frankfurt). The website is hosted by Netlify.

Cookies and browser storage

We only use technical browser storage to keep you signed in and remember your language. We don't use profiling cookies of our own. For partner links we use Travelpayouts, which loads its own script to recognise clicks on affiliate links and credit us any commission. The script only runs if you accept it in the cookie banner (you can change your mind with the “Cookies” link at the bottom of the page), and it may use cookies or technical identifiers under the Travelpayouts privacy policy. Partner links (for example Hostelworld or GetYourGuide) are affiliate links: if you open them, the partner's website may use its own cookies under its own privacy policy.

Private messages

Messages you exchange with other travellers can only be seen by you and the recipient, and are stored on Supabase like the rest of your data. You can block anyone who writes to you. If you delete your account, your messages are deleted.

Translations

If you tap “Translate” on a tip, the public text of that tip is translated by your browser (when it supports it) or sent to the MyMemory translation service. We don't send any account data.

Your rights

You can ask at any time to see, correct or delete your data and your account by writing to privacy@guestribe.com. You can also delete your account yourself from My profile → Edit profile → Delete my account: your profile, tips, photos and messages are deleted.
